Anesthesia Types

There are 3 types of anesthesia:

  • General Anesthesia: you are unconscious, no awareness of the procedure.
  • Monitored Anesthesia (Sedation): you are in a sleep state, similar to your sleep at night, but still conscious. You wake to loud noises and other stimuli.
  • Local Anesthesia: anesthetic is injected at the surgical site. You are completely awake.

All patients have an experienced anesthesiologist (MD) or certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in attendance throughout the surgery to ensure our patients’ comfort and safety.
